Press Release: W RUGBY Launches Project Won for Won

W RUGBY LAUNCHES PROJECT WON FOR WON TO HELP KEEP THE GRASSROOTS RUGBY UNION GAME ALIVE

Australia & United Kingdom, 18th October 2020 - The newest brand on the rugby scene, W RUGBY, is launching ‘Project: Won for Won’ – an initiative designed to support the operations and resources of local, grassroots rugby union teams of all levels, starting in the UK and Australia.

Project Won for Won will provide high-quality rugby balls for training and match days to replace older, no longer fit-for-purpose balls that many teams are accustomed to during training and game days. For every ball sold by W RUGBY, another is donated by them straight into rugby teams across the community.

“These are some of the most challenging times that rugby clubs will face, possibly in their entire history,” said Dovy Cornerford, who heads up the brand. “W RUGBY is aiming to support these clubs by alleviating some of their costs. It’s vital to the communities to keep them alive.”

In the midst of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic, many clubs are unable to host games and their revenue channels have been dealt a major blow – meaning their resources will be stretched thinner than ever. Having top quality kit and equipment provided to them by W RUGBY will alleviate some of that pressure.

Second to that, but perhaps just as important, is to keep participation levels high. World Rugby boss Brett Gosper recently cited gender growth as a main driver moving forward for World Rugby. W RUGBY co-founder, Andy Lewis, echoes that view; “Project Won for Won is open to all, however, we do want to actively focus on the women’s and junior teams so that we can ‘level the playing field’ and align to World Rugby’s plans for the future of the game.”

W RUGBY balls are created based on guidance from international women’s players and boast premium quality, durability and a construct that feels good, plays well and holds up against the rigours of the game.

In order to benefit from the initiative, team representatives are encouraged to sign up through the official W RUGBY website: (w-rugby.com/wonforwon).
